The Lower Sioux Diabetes Program offers diabetes education along with nutrition counseling. Program services will help clients of all ages understand how food and lifestyle habits relate to improved diabetes management.
Individual Diabetes Nutrition counseling includes:
- Planning meals
- Carbohydrate Counting instruction
- Medication management
- How to test blood sugar
- Setting nutrition goals based on individual health needs
Services also include:
- Monthly Diabetes Bingo: Diabetes Bingo and Heart Health Bingo are held on the last Thursday of each month from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm in the Recreation Center‘s Multi- Purpose Room. Bingo sessions provide Nutrition education for diabetes & Heart health. Healthy snacks and recipe’s are also provided along with prizes for Bingo winners.
- Diabetic supplies are provided to eligible participants of the Lower Sioux Diabetes Program and include:
- Lancets
- Testing strips
- Blood Glucose meters
- Sharps containers
