Dear Foster Parents,
Lower Sioux Social Services is excited to share a new training opportunity for our Foster Parents! We have set up a free Webinar for all our Foster Parents. This training opportunity is not mandatory but is for the benefit of our Foster Families. The Webinar will be held by Michelle Robertson, MSW, LGSW.
Michelle currently teaches in a Bachelor of Social Work program; prior she was the Lead Social Worker in a tribal foster care agency. Ms. Robertson has trained for the Minnesota Child Welfare Training System for over twenty years in the foster care, adoption, kinship caregivers preservice, the social work core, and ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) training. She is a Leadership Coach with the Blandin Community Leadership Programs and a presenter for Cultural Fluency Associates. Michelle’s passion is child welfare and helping to create a better world for all!
The training will be centered around Birth Family Dynamics. The workshop will include terms, definitions, and policies around inclusion of Birth Family members. AFSA & ICWA will be presented. The benefits of shared parenting will be explored and strategies to enhance relationships between caregivers and Primary family members will be discussed. Resources will be given to participants.
