The Lower Sioux Health Care Center (LSHCC) received notification from Mayo Clinic Laboratories of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within our jurisdiction.
The LSIC is monitoring all pending and positive cases within our jurisdiction. When we receive notification of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case, it is the duty of our community health nurse to conduct a contact tracing investigation in coordination with the Community’s Public Health Authority (PHA) and the Minnesota Department of Health. During this investigation, the individual who tested positive is asked to report every individual that they had recent close contact with, travel history, and varying questions regarding onset of symptoms.
Please respect the privacy of those being tested for COVID-19. Details about all COVID-19 cases are confidential, and the LSHCC strictly adheres to the Community’s Confidential Records Disclosure Ordinance, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable privacy laws to ensure patient health information is protected.
The number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow across Minnesota and the U.S. Social Distancing is the only way to effectively slow down the rate of infection. Therefore, all of us need to be good relatives and continue to stay home unless it is necessary to leave, based on those essential services outlined in the Community’s Amended Shelter in Place Order.
Please know that we are working diligently to monitor this outbreak and the impacts it has within our jurisdiction. LSIC has been proactively preparing to help stop the spread by taking additional safety measures. Even though this is the community’s first case, we know that it will not be the last; therefore, we must all work together to continue adhering to the Community’s Amended Shelter in Place Order. We will remain in continuous communication with the Community’s PHA and the Minnesota Department of Health. We will keep the Community updated as we receive information.
